Ok, just to clarify – there’s not a golf ball heading directly your way. Still, the warning seems appropriate: Marin Community Clinics’ first-ever golf tournament was an enormous hit! On Monday, October 3rd, Golfers from Marin County and beyond ascended Bolinas Road in Fairfax, arriving at Meadow Club early and in good spirits. Some flew into the Bay Area earlier that morning. Others grew up near the course. It turned out the decision to spend a beautiful Monday golfing at one of the most renowned courses in California – all while supporting Marin County’s largest nonprofit community health center – was about to pay off.
For most, it was their first opportunity to play Meadow Club. They had only heard tales about how the ball travels differently on the pristine Alister MacKenzie designed greens, or how the Marin County wildlife still gets the right of way (regardless of where a ball may land). It wasn’t long before they got the full experience. The day began with Irish coffees and pastries and our exciting putting contests. Then we got down to business: 18-holes of golf. 35 teams completed the course in all.
After an epic day on the course, teams were excited to pull their carts up to the clubhouse, where they were welcomed with (all-you-can-eat!) delicious BBQ and participated in our silent auction for a chance to win incredible prizes. By all accounts, this event was a breath of fresh air and a lot of fun! By the end of the day, friends were made, and new supporters of Marin Community Clinics were welcomed into our community. Most importantly, the event was a fundraiser supporting our mission: to promote health and wellness through excellent, compassionate care for all. Together, we raised $89,373 supporting the Clinics!
