4th Street Dental Clinic Ribbon Cutting

In November 2024, Marin Community Clinics proudly celebrated the reopening of our renovated Fourth Street Dental Clinic in San Rafael—made possible through the generous support of donors and community partners who share our commitment to accessible care. More than a facility upgrade, this renovation expands vital oral health services for adults, including individuals living with HIV/AIDS, those experiencing homelessness, and others historically underserved.

With modernized operatories, enhanced infection control, and improved patient flow, the clinic offers a state-of-the-art, welcoming space where patients receive high-quality, compassionate care.

This project marks a significant step forward in reducing wait times, increasing service capacity, and ensuring more patients across Marin County have a trusted dental home. It’s a powerful example of what’s possible when communities come together to build healthier, more inclusive futures—one smile at a time.

New Downtown San Rafael Clinic at Vivalon

Downtown Santa Rosa ribbon cutting

Marin Community Clinics has opened a new 2,500-square-foot medical office at Vivalon in downtown San Rafael, strengthening access to quality care in the heart of the city. Expected to serve approximately 8,000 patient visits annually, the clinic features six well-equipped exam rooms and a compassionate, multilingual care team of 11, including physicians, nurses, medical assistants, and a social worker. Patients can receive a wide range of essential services, including immunizations, chronic disease management, reproductive health care, behavioral health services, and specialty referrals.

By partnering with Vivalon, a trusted community hub, MCC is bringing vital healthcare closer to where people live, work, and age—making it easier for all residents, especially vulnerable populations, to receive the care they need in a welcoming, accessible setting.

Protecting Vision Through Early Detection

Diabetes Retinopathy

Diabetic retinopathy is a common complication of diabetes that can lead to permanent vision loss if left untreated. Early detection through routine eye screening is essential to managing the condition and preserving sight.

In November 2024, Marin Community Clinics expanded access to diabetic eye care by investing in eight retinopathy cameras across its sites. Within just two months, more than 400 patients were screened. Those showing signs of retinopathy received timely follow-up care at the clinic or were referred to eye specialists.

By bringing screening services onsite, we are removing barriers to care, enabling earlier detection, and helping to prevent vision loss. This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to providing high-quality, comprehensive care to the communities we serve.

Empowering Healthier Families with Whole Family Wellness Initiative

Whole Families Wellness

MCC received the 2024–2025 Child Passenger Safety Seat Grant from the County of Marin to help reduce childhood injuries caused by motor vehicle accidents. The program raises awareness, provides car seats to low-income families, and ensures hands-on installation training.

One recipient—a single mother of three undergoing cancer treatment—shared how receiving a car seat eased her daily struggles and support her child’s safety. Her story reflects MCC’s deep commitment to supporting families through life’s most challenging moments. With support from UCSF and funding from Genentech, Inc., Marin Community Clinics launched “Responding to ACEs Using a Whole Family Wellness Approach to Care.” This innovative initiative addresses the long-term effects of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) on family health and well-being.

By integrating trauma-informed practices and culturally responsive care into pediatric primary care, the program strengthens family-centered wellness and improves health outcomes. It is a meaningful step forward in our commitment to compassionate, equitable care—and in breaking down systemic barriers that too often stand in the way of healthier futures.
