Dental Care expansion featured in Marin IJ

The growth of Marin Community Clinics’ Dental services was featured on the front page of the Marin IJ.

If you have not yet seen the January 2nd, 2015 issue of the Marin Independent Journal, please read Richard Halstead’s thorough description of our efforts to meet the huge demand for dental care in Marin County.

Since opening the first dental clinic dedicated to low income Marin residents in 2008, MCC’s dental department has struggled to meet the enormous unmet demand for oral health care. Now, after tripling the capacity of that first clinic, MCC has been recognized in a California State Auditor report as the county with the second highest Medi-Cal utilization rate for children’s dental care in the state.

With the ongoing support of Dr. John Boland, a volunteer pediatric dentist and Board member, along with a full staff of paid dentists, dental assistants, and support staff, Chief Dental Officer Dr. Connie Kadera continues to navigate the steady growth of dental services. Later this month Marin Community Clinics will begin expanded dental hours for adults to include Saturdays in Novato and two evenings a week in San Rafael.
