Dr. Mariam Basir is a pediatrician who enjoys caring for children of all ages. Her special interests in medicine include teen and immigrant health.
Dr. Basir was raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin before moving to the Bay Area for medical school at Touro University. After medical school she moved again, this time, to the East Coast for residency at Rutgers University. While there, she worked on fostering community connections to her medical institution, a growing passion of hers. Since residency, she has been working with Mount Sinai at a school based health center in New York City. Working at the high school she developed a strong skill set for adolescent health as well as immigrant health. Her student population included adolescents from over 50 countries speaking more than 30 different languages.
Though she loved New York City, her heart remained in California, and she recently moved back to the Bay Area to join the team at MCC.
In her free time she enjoys training for marathons, hiking and hopes to become a better surfer now that she’s back on the Pacific Coast.
