I was born in Boise, Idaho but spent my childhood living in several small towns throughout Idaho, Eastern and Western Washington. I spent 15 years as a young adult in Seattle and also attended college there where I earned an an undergraduate degree in Social Worker followed by an MSW. For the past 13 years I have lived in California.
I am very interested in Naturopathic Medicine which combines the wisdom of nature with the rigors of modern science to diagnose, treat and manage patients with acute and chronic conditions, while addressing disease and dysfunction at the level of body, mind and spirit.
When I am not working my wife and I easily fill our time with outdoor activities (boating, fishing, hiking, camping and gardening or as some close friends call it “urban farming”) and international travel.
I take a person centered approach when it comes to patient care – I recognize that every person is operating from their own value system, they have their own preferences, and individually desired health outcomes based on their own unique background, experiences, and lifestyle. When I’m working with patients I strive to create a patient-provider partnership that considers options based on a patient’s unique concerns, preferences, and values. I recognize that I am not an expert in anyone’s life except my own. I also strive to create a space where people feel heard and seen as more than just a person with a medical condition.
